Freelance Proofreader
Role Overview & Responsibilities
We have an opportunity for a Mid Sussex based proofreader to work remotely on a freelance basis for our established and growing business in Family Support Work and Child Contact Services. The role is to proofread short, non-technical reports written by our employees.
The reports are competently written, so it is a matter of checking clarity, grammar, punctuation, spelling, consistency of formatting and so on. You would be tracking text changes in Microsoft Word, so proficiency with this is a given.
Previous experience in proofreading is essential. The volume of reports each week to check will vary, but you would need daily availability as we have to submit reports within tight deadlines. Each report would take around 20 minutes to proofread and so please ensure you would be able to accommodate around 2 hrs a day, if needed.
This role can be fitted very conveniently around other work/personal commitments. You will need an exceptional eye for detail and the ability to work independently and communicate clearly, together with excellent organisational skills. You should have a recent DBS check covering child workforce, or be willing to apply for one. We are looking for someone based near our head office in Hassocks, West Sussex or nearby towns. This is a freelance post, invoices would be submitted by the proof reader monthly. Hourly rate is £13 per hr.
AG Family Support is a nationwide organisation which supplies independent social work assessments, family support and child contact services to local authorities and members of the public. Much of our work relates to statutory child protection settings. We are a family-run business with a strong ethos of professionalism in all we do, as well as support for our employees and contractors alike.
