Role Overview & Responsibilities

Aston Law School’s mission is to be a distinctive law school that combines academic rigour with practical insight, for ‘future ready’ LLB and LLM graduates. We do so as The Guardian’s University of the Year 2020, with Gold TEF status, and as one of the leading universities for Entrepreneurship and Social Mobility.

Our programmes teach a combination of ‘traditional’ law subjects alongside creative and innovative subjects that provide the academic grounding for skills and attributes of modern lawyers (for example, Law in an Applied Context, and Legal Project Management). We do so by drawing on our links with businesses and the legal profession.

We have plans for our strategic growth that involve recruitment on either a full time or part time basis, at grade 9, to join our colleagues who are committed to making a difference in the area of Public Law and Human Rights.

If you have an interest in pedagogical scholarship, we will be keen to support your continued engagement in this. Finally, in addition to being a team player and committed to social mobility, the successful candidates will recognise the importance of excellent student support.

Aston University and Aston Law School are committed to the principles of the Athena SWAN Charter http://www.ecu.ac.uk/equality-charter-marks/athena-swan/ recognised by a bronze award.

We will therefore adopt an inclusive recruitment process which involves sharing interview questions with short-listed candidates in advance (and a promise not to deviate from the subject matter of those questions); encouraging candidates, if they wish, to attend interview with notes of their preparation; and to provide feedback to all short-listed candidates.

This post is available to start immediately. Informal enquiries about them should be addressed to Jonathan Fortnam (Dean of Aston Law School) by email j.fortnam@aston.ac.uk.
