Maternity Healthcare Assistant (MCA) – Band 2 – Barts Health NHS Trust - Royal London Hospital

Barts Health NHS Trust are looking for enthusiastic MCA's to join their committed teams to assist with the care of women under the direction and supervision of midwifery trained staff in the hospital and community.

The Barts Health NHS Trust was established in 2012, and consists of six major London hospitals including Mile End Hospital, The London Chest Hospital, The Royal London Hospital, Newham University Hospital, St Bartholomew's Hospital and Whipps Cross University Hospital.

This is an amazing opportunity for a MCA to undertake a rewarding role, being responsible for supporting women and their families as directed by midwives or other trained staff, making sure to report areas of concern to the appropriate midwife, escorting women and infants within the ward and hospital, including on transfer home, assist trained midwifery staff with women and babies personal hygiene, making and distributing women/patients drinks, assisting at meal times and offer support to breastfeeding women.

Important Requirements:

• At least 6 months NHS experience in that last 3 years
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• A caring, empathetic approach to all patients
• A proactive and professional work ethic
