Role Overview & Responsibilities
You will work as part of the Chesterfield Emotional Wellbeing Team providing bereavement and trauma support to women who use our maternity services.
This post holder will form an integral part of the clinical team focusing on the support of women who have suffered a pregnancy loss and also supporting women who have had a traumatic perinatal experience.
There is an expectation to provide 7-day bereavement support and to maintain clinical competency making this a good opportunity for a job share for candidates who may want to consider this.
A comprehensive induction programme will be provided to support the successful candidate.
The bereavement midwife will provide presence in supporting the delivery of a supportive and empathetic service to women and their families experiencing pregnancy loss within the care of the maternity service. The postholder will support the birth trauma/bereavement lead acting as a resource for women, families and maternity staff on the physical, psychological and administrative aspects of bereavement and trauma care.
Chesterfield Royal Hospital is located in Calow, Chesterfield, which is situated on a green field site on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is home to the Crooked Spire and is also close to Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham, thus offering numerous choices for recreational activities and lifestyles.
Chesterfield Royal Hospital was officially opened by the queen in 1985 and since then it has continued to expand and modernise, currently holding approximately 550 beds. We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.
The postholder will liaise with external agencies and ensure that all administration including reporting, is completed in a timely manner for the benefit of the family.
The postholder will support in the development of Rainbow Care provision and also support the delivery of mandatory education sessions to staff.
