Role Overview & Responsibilities
You will work with a well-established team to provide evidence based care to children and young people referred to the service. In addition to the members of the CEDS team you will work alongside colleagues in Community Children and Young People services, Inpatient services and paediatrics.

You will work alongside an experienced group of professionals to provide evidence based care to young people who present with eating disorders. You will not have a caseload but will support the team in managing the most complex young people managed in the service. This will include liaising with colleagues in paediatrics and inpatient services and ensuring the physical health needs of patients is monitored.

The service we provide is in line with NICE Concordant Evidenced Based Treatment for those children and young people with an eating disorder. You will provide high quality specialist clinical assessments, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigation to children, young people and their families, in a range of settings and work collaboratively with other members of the team to plan and deliver appropriate individually tailored treatment plans. This will include working with young people in the community and supporting the management of young people admitted to the Paediatric wards at Sunderland Royal Infirmary.
In line with Access and Waiting Times Standards, the post-holder will be expected to abide by timescales to commence assessment and treatment of new referrals with a suspected eating disorder and, for accepted cases, to continue treatment, including co-morbidities.
Duties also include providing medical supervision, consultation and co-working to team members and other CYPS professionals regarding patients with risk issues associated with poor nutritional intake or complex cases involving eating issues. The post-holder will also deliver specialised Eating Disorders Training to CYPS/Paediatric staff, trainees and medical students, in addition to other agencies, including general practitioners.
