DUC london are looking for an experienced and time served upholsterer to join our small team working out of our workshop Putney, London. We work with a range of clients in the London area from high end bespoke projects to domestic reupholstery. We are a small but ambitious company with quality service and creativity at its core. We are looking for someone who is skilled, motivated and with a passion for the craft.

Key responsibilities:

• Competently reupholstering items including the removal of covers, padding and webbing, and rebuilding them with new materials

• Cutting and sewing covers as well as pattern matching fabrics

• Making templates for new covers and upholstering them

• Preparing frameworks and foam ready for upholstery

• Competent use of power, hand and compressed air tools

• Following instructions – verbal, written and working with accuracy to drawings

• Problem solving and providing solutions

• Working within agreed timescales and quality standards

• Any other duties as required

Skills & experience required:

• Varied experience of all types of upholstery

• Working with industrial sewing machines

• Templating, accurate cutting and pattern matching fabric

• A practical and flexible working style

• Comfortable working to time scales and meeting deadlines

• The ability to work on your own or as part of a team

• Excellent accuracy and attention to detail in all areas

• A passion for the craft and pride in your work

• The ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions

Job Types: Part-time, Freelance
Part-time hours: 8-16 per week

Salary: £14.00-£20.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

• London: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

• Upholstery: 3 years (preferred)
