Shunter Driver

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Shunter to join a very busy distribution warehouse based in Dartford.

The role:

A Shunter Driver is responsible for the safe movement of vehicles on construction sites. This could include large goods vehicles (LGVs) or trailer units, and can involve manoeuvring goods around site, into storage or loading bays, or to be picked up by other workers. The position will involve manual handling duties, and attention to detail is important as duties will require working to set procedures.

Requirements:

• Must hold a current driving licence C+E/ LGV Class1
• Excellent communication skills
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety

• Flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks
• The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Responsibilities:

· Maintain TUG cleanliness

· Drain Air Tanks on TUG and Tractor units with a maintenance record kept up to date

· Maintain trailer floor cleanliness using broom/jetwash/bins prior to loading

· Maintain rear door reflective markers, rear lights and side marker light cleanliness

· Move trailers off and on to bays as required / instructed

· Notify EWT / Fresh Service of defective door restraints / punctures / trailers / units

· Arrange trailer parking in an orderly fashion / skelly’s in designated corner

· Ensure Fridge trailers fuel tanks are full

· Ensuring any movements of large vehicles and trailers safely around site

· Adhering to the sites strict Health & Safety guidelines

· Completing safety assessments

· Coupling and uncoupling trailers

· Safely parking trailers

· Ensuring handover procedures are correctly implemented when passing goods onto other workers

· Fridge running at correct temperatures for loads

· Ensuring trailers are suitable to load with relevant goods

Shifts/Salary:

· Sunday hours 11.00 – 23.00

· Monday - Friday hours 13.00-23.00

· Weekly pay

Owing to the location of the business and the nature of the shift patterns in operation, own transport is required.
