In this role you will act as a representative of the HM Senior Coroner for Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire, acting as a first point of contact when a death is reported to the coroner. Initiating enquiries and evidence gathering, arranging for post mortem examinations as appropriate to the individual case.

You will manage a personal; workload of assigned cases, managing the process from reporting through to closure, generating, distributing appropriate accurate and complete paperwork at all stages, monitoring progress to ensure timely completion of all cases, gathering evidence on behalf of the Senior Coroner to enable and support judicial decision making and ensuring a quality service to bereaved families.

You will provide advice and guidance to relatives, doctors, funeral directors and other interested parties to ensure that the role of the Coroner is understood and correct procedures relating to the Coroner’s enquiry are followed.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate prior learning in Medicine, Law or Investigative Practice and have an understanding of the role of the Coroners Service.

Experience of providing a professional service to customers, working in an emotionally challenging environment is essential.

In this role you must be a confident user of computers and IT packages, be organised and have a methodical approach to work with ability to meet deadlines.

A successful applicant will have ability to establish and maintain professional, effective working relationships; be respectful, empathetic and non-judgemental and be able to maintain professional standards at all times.
