Role Overview & Responsibilities
The post is described as a speciality doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for 10 sessions per week. This varied and highly regarded position will suit practitioners who are able to work flexibly. The speciality doctor will have designated sessions from outpatient clinics, minor oral surgery under local and general anaesthesia, based principally at Kettering General Hospital . There will also be a commitment to take part in the Maxillofacial oncall rota at 2nd tier level. This service is based at Northampton General Hospital and is on a 1 in 6 basis.

There will also be a commitment to take part in the Maxillofacial oncall rota at 2nd tier level. This service is based at Northampton General Hospital and is on a 1 in 6 basis.
Maxillofacial Unit
The Maxillofacial Unit at Kettering General Hospital is composed of the departments of Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics and Maxillofacial Technology. The unit comprises 3 surgeries, 2 Orthodontic treatment rooms, two consulting rooms and a full -equipped Maxillofacial Laboratory with an imaging room. An OPG/ Cone Beam CT machine and room are integral in the department.
Mr Harrop is based at Kettering, (with 3 sessions at Northampton General Hospital), and Mr Smith works four sessions at KGH. Mr Harrop and Mr Salha take part in a 1 in 5 third on-call rota.
Mr O'Neill and Ms Meadows work full time at Kettering General Hospital.
Our brand new modernised Maxillofacial unit opened in May 2019 in a new location in the hospital creating an excellent clinical and working environment.
Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KGH) and Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust (NGH) have embarked on an exciting journey to become a University Hospitals of Northamptonshire.
