Role Overview & Responsibilities

We have vacancies for talented individuals to join our Apprenticeship Programme starting in September 2023.

University isn’t for everyone and if you are keen to start working as soon as you leave Education our Solicitor Apprenticeship Programme gives you a great alternative route to qualify as a Solicitor.

Purpose

Our Solicitor Apprenticeship Programme lets you train to become a solicitor and get a mix of practical, work-based learning and formal academic study. You will gain valuable, real-life experience at one of Kent’s Leading Law Firms while earning a salary. You will be fully qualified at the end of six years with a head start on a legal career.

Job Description

Course structure and duration – 72 months (6 years)

During the first four years - focus will be on the foundational principles of law and developing your professional skills.

In the final two years you will progress your knowledge of different areas of legal practice alongside professional skills while preparing to sit the Solicitors Qualifying Examination.

The work

Throughout the 6 years you will be given the opportunity to work in different departments, to experience different areas of law. We will tailor the programme to your individual needs and goals and you will take on more responsibility as you progress. You will have a dedicated supervisor for daily training and feedback as well as a solicitor as your mentor.

The Study

Our training provider for this programme is BPP University and you will have a dedicated time of 6 hours set aside each week for your studies.

BPP University will provide all your academic training throughout the apprenticeship and guide and assist you through the training and assessments.

Where will I be based?

All Solicitor Apprenticeships will spend time at more than one office during their apprenticeship.

Requirements

To be successful in your application, you will possess the following attributes:

· Three A’ Levels at grade ABB or equivalent to 128 UCAS points or higher

· Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths

· Good communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally;

  • Good use of initiative and able to prioritise your workload
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Own transport is essential
  • You will need to be smart in appearance with a pleasant and friendly manner
