Laboratory Assistant

Role Overview & Responsibilities

Full-time Laboratory Assistant required to work in a busy ISO 17025 Accredited Microbiology Laboratory based in Bournemouth (Wallisdown) dealing primarily with food, water and environmental samples (see Microtech Services (Wessex) Ltd. website for more information).

The role includes (but is not limted to):

-preparing culture media.

-dispensing culture media and pouring agar plates.

-labelling petri dishes, capping test tubes, refilling pipette tip boxes.

-General 'day to day' cleaning duties.

-recycling of glassware including washing and preparation for sterilization.

Previous experience is not required as full training will be given, although a good command of verbal and written English is essential.

To be considered for the role, you will need to be:

-reliable, hard-working and flexible

-able to work 5 days a week (Monday to Friday)

-able to work within the hours of 8am - 5pm (8 hours per day including 30 min paid lunch break).

-a conscientious, reliable and resourceful individual who can work well with others as well as on their own using their own initiative.

The company offers an immediate start, a permanent position and training to high standards.

Access to the Company pension scheme is available after the first 3 months.

Starting pay is £9.50 per hour, increasing to £10.50 per hour in April in line with the National Living Wage.
