Tayside Psychological Therapies Service is looking to appoint a significant number of Band 4 Assistant Psychologist posts for a range of specialties. The posts will be based across Tayside, with vacancies including Angus Adult Services, Perinatal and Neonatal Psychological Services, Health Psychology, Learning Disabilities, Older People Psychology and Tayside Eating Disorders Service. Posts may be split across more than one speciality dependent on the skill and interests of applicants. Applicants should share the values of NHS Tayside.


The post holder will undertake a range of duties to assist the safe and effective delivery of patient care, including audit & research and providing direct patient work under the close supervision of qualified Psychologists. Post holders may assist in the preparation and delivery of teaching and training and undertake work which helps qualified staff plan new – or redesign existing - services. The post-holder will work across a range of settings throughout Tayside. The post requires the ability to take a role in assessment and the formulation of complex cases within the context of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working. The post-holder will have regular access to clinical supervision and peer support.


Applicants must have completed an under-graduate Psychology Honours Degree with the major subject being Psychology with a minimum of a 2:1 grade achieved. The post-holder must be eligible for graduate basis registration with the British Psychological Society.


The Tayside region offers excellent opportunities to support a range of outdoor activities and cultural interests. The V&A Museum of Design recently opened in Dundee and is part of Dundee’s innovative new waterfront development. All other major cities in Scotland can be easily accessed. Tayside Psychological Therapies service is a large service which is benefitting from investment and expansion. There is a well established training culture and Assistant Psychologists openly welcomed as the next generation of qualified staff.
