We have an exciting opportunity for an Animal Technician to join one of the largest institutes in the Northwest, assisting with their day to day workload.
As the (Germ Free) Animal Technician, your main role will be to look after and care for the unit’s mice.
As this is a highly specialised role, the ideal candidate will have germ-free experience. Candidates with experience of working with isolators will also be considered. There will also be an opportunity to work within the aquatics team if time and suitability allows.
Your main duties will include:
- Daily health checks
- Fulfilling husbandry needs
- Sterilising consumables prior to entry into isolators
- Isolator and other equipment maintenance
- Stock checks of both animals and consumables
- Record keeping
- Regulated procedures, e.g. gavaging, IP injections etc. within an isolator or iso-station
The ideal candidate needs to be able to work under pressure, be scrupulous with regards to hygiene and have an eye for detail.
