General Manager

Snaith Salad Growers Ltd (SSG) is a marketing Co-operative based near Snaith in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Working with the direction of the Board of Directors the General Manager is responsible for the management of the business, implementing the companies policies and procedures, managing the work of all its staff, and day to day management of its assets. More specifically the role is outlined below:

Marketing

• Maintaining strong relationships with our existing customers.
• Developing sales opportunities when required, short term or long term.
• Managing the production of Growers to Sales
• Implementing Quota System when necessary
• Dealing with customer enquiries such as buying or technical representatives

Transport

• Ensuring all produce is collected from growers and is transported to customers
• Managing our fleet of vehicles and drivers.
• Solving transport problems pro-actively
• Maintenance and repairs to all vehicles including
• Managing any produce handling transport and distribution work for 3rd parties

Pack-house

• Ensuring that all produce is correctly Quality Controlled and stored
• Implementing HACCP plan and being on the HACCP Team.
• Maintenance and repairs of the pack-house and cooling systems
• Maintenance and service schedules for forklift trucks
• Managing and produce handling storage for 3rd parties

Quality Assurance

• Ensuring SSG follows all policies and procedures, whether it be customer requirements or BRC auditing, financial proceedures, HACCP etc.
• Liaise with our agronomist and implement testing schedule for produce

Staff Management

• Manage all staff, including contracts, payments, discipline, rotas to ensure a smooth running of the business

Finance

• Authorise Banking transactions
• Oversee the pooling system which works out grower returns
• Manage funding applications and grants (currently RPA PO scheme)

As General Manager it will be your responsibility to make sure all of the functions of the business are achieved, all eventualities.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
