Solent is looking for a PR and Media Relations Advisor to help us tell the story of our University; communicate our successes, enhance our reputation, and deliver our strategic priorities.

You will be working alongside professional colleagues in PR and media, content, social media and brand communications, and your skills will really add value to their work.

You’ll gain valuable specialist knowledge of the higher education sector and experience in local and national media liaison, reputation management and cross-university campaigns.

As PR and Media Relations Advisor, you will source and write material for journalists and the media, and produce written and digital content for Solent’s own media channels, including social media, blogs, website and publications. You will have demonstrable experience of working across a range of public relations and media disciplines, preferably within a large organisation.

You will be first point of contact for media and community partners to ensure the University is aware and prepared for any potential issues and can maximise PR opportunities through joined up working. You will have a high level of organisational skill and the ability to manage multiple, often complex, tasks to tight deadlines. You will also relish managing unforeseen circumstances and move swiftly to support a fast-evolving issue or crisis.

You will have outstanding attention to detail, a passion for news, the ability to produce great written and digital content to tight deadlines and be confident in building relationships with local, national and international media, including key influencers in the digital sphere.
