Project Manager
Role Overview & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Engineering and Capital Delivery, the Project Manager will manage projects ranging from major building developments to small scale internal refurbishments. Their duties will include adhering to the project’s program, securing resources, delivering the project on time and within budget, risk management and progress reporting.
The safety of TIA’s staff and customers is the top priority for the airport. Working with all department managers, the Project Manager will oversee compliance, with all the applicable Health, Safety and Quality regulations, in relation to the projects.
Working closely with the other managers of the business and third parties, this role will be instrumental in achieving the targets of the business plan.
Principal Accountabilities
Leading on the appointment of third-party project and design teams and acting as the interface between them and TIAL on major projects
Planning, scheduling and coordinating project programs, reporting progress and budget matters.
Preparing and negotiating timetables, cost estimates, quotations and contracts for small to medium projects.
Managing the entire construction process of small to medium projects, supervising all activity on-site, occasionally acting as Principal Contractor, responding to delays, managing changes to scope including cost variations.
Working alongside the Procurement team to prepare and evaluate tender documents.
Complying with legal requirements, safety and building regulations and keeping daily logs and diaries.
Promoting TIA’s carbon net zero strategy, managing renewable energy projects and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation.
Ordering equipment and materials, managing their use and managing the personnel involved.
Hiring, instructing and managing labour and sub-contractors, including carrying out site inductions and issuing permits.
Enforcing safety procedures and minimising risk.
Liaising with other members of the wider team in relation to projects, communicating future works and possible disruptions/delays to the Airport operation.
Negotiating with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors.
Compiling, managing & maintaining procedures and processes for project completion.
Document control.
Collaborating with specialists such as architects, engineers and local government officials for permits and licences, contractors and clients.
Being involved in preparation of contracts and production of purchase orders.
Person Specification
Essential - Minimum 10 years’ experience in a Project Management related role. Minimum HND/HNC qualification in a relevant subject. NEBOSH General Certificate
Desirable - NEC4 qualification - supervisor/project manager. CAD experience.
