Role Overview & Responsibilities

We require an enthusiastic environmental education officer to join our team. You will lead and
engage groups from Early Years to adults mainly outdoors in Epping Forest on both day and
residential visits.

What we are looking for:
As an Environmental Education Officer, you will plan and deliver high quality outdoor
environmental educational activities for groups from early years to post 16 as well as
developing family and adult events, everything from bear hunts to A’ level ecology to corporate
team building. You will have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the natural world and
the climate emergency enabling you lead sessions for schools and adult groups. You must be
eager to learn with ongoing training provided, including Carbon Literacy training.

You will be able to work with the rest of The Hive team to assist with the work needed to
develop and maintain our resources, including grounds, livestock and equipment.

The role is physically demanding and requires someone with a blend of skills and expertise,
including field studies, leading workshops, bush craft, practical conservation and animal care.
You will be required to work at weekends and out of hours, but at The Hive every day is
different and enjoyable.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:
Degree in ecology, environmental science, geography or related subjectExperience of planning and delivering high quality outdoor environmental education activitiesExperience of working with children and young peopleClean DBS

Desirable:
Forest School Leader and/or bushcraft trainingFirst aid qualification
