Senior Carer

The Shrubbery (part of Adara Healthcare Ltd), Higham Ferrers is looking to recruit a Senior Carer (Days).

The position is on a full-time basis of 39 hrs p/w, worked over a 2 week rota with every other weekend off. The home operates a 12 hour shift system and the working hours are 8am to 8pm.

The Senior Carer reports to the Manager and Deputy Manager and manages Care Assistants.

This role is subject to Enhanced DBS clearance and candidates should be able to supply proof of their right to work in the UK.

Key duties

· Assisting residents with all personal care.

· Monitoring health and well-being of residents and taking appropriate action in the event of any issues arising.

· Administering medication.

· Ensuring record keeping is up-to-date, comprehensive and accurate.

· Managing and supporting care team.

· Carrying out performance assessments of Care Assistants.

· Conducting review and audits as directed by the Deputy Manager.

· Ensuring professional knowledge is kept up-to-date by undertaking regular training using e-learning system provided.

· Liaising with outside agencies and others involved in residents’ care: GPs and other health professionals, Adult Social Care, residents’ families.

Person specification

Essential

Kind, caring and compassionate individual with proven experience of working within a residential care setting (minimum 2 years).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrable experience of maintaining care records to a high standard.

Proven experience of liaising effectively with other health and social care professionals and agencies.

Trained in administering medication.

Experience of caring for residents with dementia.

Basic IT skills (post holder will be expected to use email, care management system and e-learning system).

Either holds, or is working towards, NVQ Level 3 in Adult care, Health and social care, or equivalent.

Desirable

Experience of using Fusion or other care management system.
