Role Overview & Responsibilities

To provide technical support with minimal supervision, in a range of project specific research activities including: the running and troubleshooting of experiments, the maintenance, use and teaching of research associated equipment. To assist team members in ensuring that staff and students operate safe working practices, ensuring health and safety compliance within the laboratories.

Applicants will have knowledge and experience of molecular biology and microbiology techniques, preferably in the field of mycology. Successful applicants will perform CRISPR-Cas9 editing of filamentous fungi, soil microcosm assays, analysis of next generation sequencing using a suite of software and screening of fungal mutants in in vitro infections via live-cell imaging and flow cytometry. You will provide support to undergraduate and postgraduate projects and to the rest of the team, as well as overseeing the organisation and daily running of the laboratory.
