Role Overview & Responsibilities

*Please note that we do not accept applications from current UoB students for these roles*

The University of Bristol is one of the most popular and successful universities in the UK, ranked in the top ten universities in the country and 61st in the world (QS Rankings 2023). We attract students from all over the world, creating a rich and exciting international community.

The role:

We are looking to recruit self-motivated, and enthusiastic Student Administrators to be part of the Faculty Student Administration function. This role plays a pivotal part in providing administrative support to students and the individual Schools across the University.

The role of a Faculty Student Administrator (FSTA) is wide ranging with its primary purpose to provide administrative assistance for undergraduate or postgraduate teaching along with supporting a wide range of activities such as induction and registration to graduation.

The majority of these roles are based on our main Clifton campus which is within close proximity to Bristol city centre and numerous transport links including two train stations. We also offer staff the opportunity to participate in the cycle to work scheme. We are lucky to be located in a vibrant, dynamic city with a reputation for creativity and sustainability.

You should apply if:

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a number of competencies including the ability to deliver exceptional customer service including face to face and online, attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and prioritising a variety of work activities in a busy environment.

Ideally you will already have some relevant experience and possess the communication, drive and customer care skills to deliver a high quality service to a range of stakeholders at all levels. Good computer skills with experience working with Excel, Word and MS Outlook is strongly preferred.

Benefits:

The University of Bristol offers a range of excellent staff benefits including 38 days’ annual leave (including bank holidays and fixed closure days), a generous pension scheme, training and development opportunities and discounted membership for on-site gym facilities.

Additional info:

Applications are open for these roles on both an open ended and fixed term basis (ranging from a minimum of 3 months up to 12 months) and a centralised recruitment process will be used to progress applications.

If your application demonstrates that you meet the selection criteria you will be asked to complete an online test which will assess your computer skills along with situational judgement exercises. Successful applicants will then be invited to attend an interview. Candidates who are successful at this stage of the process will then be invited to a final informal interview to meet the recruiting managers from the relevant academic School. Success at this final stage will lead to an offer of employment from the recruiting school.
