Role Overview & Responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, professional and well-organised Executive Co-ordinator and Assistant to the Director of the MRC Molecular Haematology Unit, Professor K J Patel. You will play a pivotal role in supporting both the smooth day-to-day administration of the Unit as well as providing a high level of secretarial and administrative support to Professor Patel, in his role as Director of the MHU.
As Professor Patel holds Directorship for both the Institute and the MHU, as well as Chief Scientist to Cancer Research UK , you will be expected to work closely with the Executive Assistant for the Institute, the Institute Administrator and members of the WIMM administration team, ensuring lines of communication are maintained at all times.
You will need to develop successful working relationships with academic and support staff colleagues across the Institute and in the wider University. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of a role where two days will never be the same.
Experience of providing high-level support at an executive level, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a flexible approach to a busy and varied workload are essential. You will have demonstrable experience of managing multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines with a positive approach, whilst maintaining attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Experience of office management, including dealing with confidential matters will require tact, discretion and the ability to maintain and build effective working relationships.
This is a full time, fixed term position until 31 March 2027, funded by the Medical Research Council.
