The Department of Politics & International Relations (DPIR) is seeking a capable, confident, well-organised HR Officer. This is an exciting and interesting opportunity to work closely with the HR Manager, Senior HR Officer and the DPIR Professional Services team, other Divisional and University teams to provide a professional and efficient HR service to all DPIR staff.
DPIR is a busy teaching and research department, comprising circa 140 staff. The HR Officer will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the HR function, supporting the HR team in areas such as recruitment, induction, contractual documentation, administration of HR data (using the University’s PeopleXD HR system) and being a reliable point of contact for all HR enquiries. You will have the opportunity to be involved with HR initiatives and project work.
You should have relevant HR experience and a desire and willingness to develop your existing knowledge within an academic environment. You will have outstanding organisational, and communication skills and will demonstrate the ability to deal with confidential matters with tact and sensitivity. You should work with a focus on high-quality customer service, have excellent attention to detail and an ability to work effectively both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a wider team. You should possess strong IT skills, especially in Excel.
The position is full-time and fixed term for 2 years in the first instance. We work flexibly between home and office. The department supports flexible working patterns and alternative working patterns will be considered.
