Role Overview & Responsibilities

The University of Oxford is offering an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic junior researcher, with a masters or undergraduate social science degree, who is interested in developing a career in qualitative health and social care research. It is intended that the position will allow the post-holder to gain an in-depth understanding of qualitative health research through working within an established and successful research group (led by Prof. Sue Ziebland and Prof. Catherine Pope). Please see our website for further information about the group: https://www.phc.ox.ac.uk/research/health_experiences.
The post-holder will be provided with training to develop their research skills and experience as they work as a research assistant across a range of qualitative projects and tasks. The ideal candidate would demonstrate an interest in pursuing a doctorate as a subsequent career step. The position is not suitable for researchers who already hold a doctorate.
The post is full-time for one year. You will be based in Radcliffe Primary Care on the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter in Oxford and report to the MS&HERG Operations Manager Dr. Angela Martin. Once established in the role, there may be the opportunity for occasional remote working by arrangement.
You will hold a good first degree in a relevant social science subject and preferably have recently completed an MSc. You will also have a proven interest in qualitative health and social care research and good knowledge of qualitative research methods.
There will be an opportunity to find out more about the post from Prof. Sue Ziebland who will hold a 1 hour session by Zoom on 23rd May 2023. Please register for this by contacting elizabeth.woolliams@phc.ox.ac.uk.
