Machine Operative - Nights (4 days on / 4 days off shift pattern)

Vitacress Salads, based in St Mary Bourne, Andover is one of the leading salad and watercress suppliers in the UK. With our own salad leaf farms, we really can claim a field to fork operation. We grow, wash, pack and distribute salad and watercress for retailer own brands and our own brand Steve’s Leaves.

Due to our continued success and a period of expansion, we are looking for Machine Operatives.

This role is responsible for the effective running of the machine in accordance to policy and procedures.

You would be joining us at a very exciting time as we are making a significant investment to upgrade our factory. You will be involved in the processing of product from salad leaf into bags or bowls and ensuring this meets the highest customer standards.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Maintaining hygiene regulations / procedures, and health and safety standards
• Maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to inc’ QA philosophy
• Report any faults/damage on any equipment
• Maintaining all traceability procedures-Scanning
• Complete relevant paperwork which may include CCP checks
• Completion of Pre and Post check sheets
• Ensure set up of the line is in accordance with the WI
• Carry out hygiene duties on designated machinery /areas of the factory, in accordance with accepted method statements, i.e. relevant cleaning instruction cards (CIC’s)
• Follow the daily production schedule
• In addition you may on occasions be asked to carry out other tasks in line with your training, experience and capabilities to meet the needs and demands of the business

Skills, Experience & Competencies:

• Previous experience in FMCG environment an advantage
• Attention to detail
• Problem solving
• Excellent communication skills

No experience is necessary although previous production or factory experience would be beneficial.

The shift pattern is 4 days on and 4 days off, from 6pm to 6am.

Our salad leaves are at their best when kept cool, so average temperatures are 5°C. To help within this cooler environment, we supply Company PPE to keep you warm, provide free hot drinks, a subsidised canteen serving hot and cold meals and a minimum of two breaks per shift.
