Staff Writer

The role:

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Staff Writer, with a flair for writing high-quality and engaging content, to join the editorial team.

You will be creating content for both print and digital platforms with a keen interest in local news and events and impressive attention to detail. Your work will feature in magazines, advertising, website blogs and email newsletters.

You must be a confident communicator with the ability to adapt your writing style for different magazines, audiences and target markets. You will be confident in liaising with different departments and clients to create original, fresh and engaging copy where needed.

About us:

Your Local Link is a family-run publishing company based in York. We produce and distribute 4 monthly publications across North and East Yorkshire including Your Local Link Magazine, The Best Pages North & East Yorkshire, Keep it Handy Guide and What’s On York Guide.

This is an office-based role where you’ll work in a small but friendly team from our relaxed offices based on the Clifton Moor industrial estate in York.

The successful candidate will be required to:

• Write content across all of our print publications and online platforms.
• Proofreading, checking and editing copy for magazines and website articles.
• Manage and liaise with editorial contributors.
• Work alongside in-house designers to plan and write content for email newsletters.
• Play a key part in running social media accounts alongside other team members.
• Attend PR events such as press launches where required.

The ideal candidate will:

• Will be passionate about writing with great attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
• Hold a relevant qualification or proven experience in copywriting (NCTJ Diploma, Degree in journalism/creative writing).
• Be comfortable in writing for print, online and social media.

Full-time, Mon-Fri: 8:30am-5pm with 1 hour lunch break.

20 days holiday plus all public holidays.
